CHARLOTTE, NC, June 16, 2017 – Girls on the Run Charlotte welcomes six new members to its Advisory Board.

Charged with strategic planning, community advocacy, and supporting council sustainability, these new members bring unique and diverse backgrounds to ensure that goals are accomplished and the organization is meeting its mission: to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

Girls on the Run Charlotte has served Mecklenburg and Cabarrus counties for 21 years and impacts the lives of 4,000 participants annually. With the help of the board of directors and volunteers, the program continues to grow each year and increase the number of scholarships available to serve all girls.

The new board members include:

Ruthie Mihal
Ms. Mihal is the Manager of Alumni Relations and Development for Carolinas HealthCare System. She oversees relationship development for the higher education and healthcare services organization and will bring her extensive experience building and maintaining large alumni, client, sponsor and fundraising bases to the GOTR Board.

Mr. Riess is a partner at the global law firm King & Spalding, LLP.  In his practice, he represents lenders and borrowers in financing transactions including cross-border acquisitions and leveraged buyouts. He is a triathlete himself and will bring his legal and finance background to the Board.
